#Me too
Women don't keep silent anymore
Hello everyone!
Today I was searching on the net the hashtag #MeToo and found a really touching story which I'd like to discuss here in my blog.
Here's the link to the bunch of stories where I found the one which struck me more than others: metoo-stories-you-havent-heard
I've found this story disturbing because it tells about a girl-her name is Connie-who was sexually assualted when she was only fifteen.
She was attacked by her best friend's brother while sleeping. She lost her friend as the "rapist" made everyone believe him, not her. She couldn't talk to anyone afterwards, it was so hard to find the right person to share her problem with. Connie describes it as "building walls around you", so that nobody can interfere with your inner world. Those were tough moments for her when she kept to herself. Her problem "remained a secret", and the inner anxiety grew more and more. The longer she kept silent, the bigger her pain became.
When she came across such social campaign as #MeToo ,she was relieved as she realised there are people in the world who can listen to you, understand, and offer their help.
Now Connie tries to be open with her own children and dissuss such tough topic as sexual assault. She underlines that this one should not be considered as taboo.
Personally, I'm glad that Connie could overcome this issue to some extent. I guess women should not be affraid of sharing their stories. There might be someone who won't understand you, won't believe you, but there are so many people who experienced the same things you went through or something similar, who want to help, and there's nothing bad in accepting it.
The more we discuss our problems, the better we feel inside.
If you have any questions, you're welcome.

Hello Natasha,
ОтветитьУдалитьThank you for sharing this story with us. It's indeed such that cannot leave you indifferent. But having read your opinion about it, I'm not sure how to act the way you suggest because being afraid of opening up is one of the major obstacles on the way to dealing with this problem
