#Me too

Women don't keep silent anymore

Hello everyone!
Today I was searching on the net the hashtag #MeToo and found a really touching story which I'd like to discuss here in my blog.

Here's the link to the bunch of stories where I found the one which struck me more than others: metoo-stories-you-havent-heard

I've found this story disturbing because it tells about a girl-her name is Connie-who was sexually assualted when she was only fifteen.
She was attacked by her best friend's brother while sleeping. She lost her friend as the "rapist" made everyone believe him, not her. She couldn't talk to anyone afterwards, it was so hard to find the right person to share her problem with. Connie describes it as "building walls around you", so that nobody can interfere with your inner world. Those were tough moments for her when she kept to herself.  Her problem "remained a secret", and the inner anxiety grew more and more. The longer she kept silent, the bigger her pain became.
When she came across such social campaign as #MeToo ,she was relieved as she realised there are people in the world who can listen to you, understand, and offer their help.
Now Connie tries to be open with her own children and dissuss such tough topic as sexual assault. She underlines that this one should not be considered as taboo.

Personally, I'm glad that Connie could overcome this issue to some extent. I guess women should not be affraid of sharing their stories. There might be someone who won't understand you, won't believe you, but there are so many people who experienced the same things you went through or something similar, who want to help, and there's nothing bad in accepting it.
The more we discuss our problems, the better we feel inside.

If you have any questions, you're welcome.

Taboos and Issues

Today me, Yulia Seledkova and Masha Golovey have chosen such topic as "Abortion" to discuss.
All of us agreed to the opinion that usually this topic is perceived as taboo, and you should never be the one to start discussing it. If a woman feels she can trust you and knows she won't get a negative feedback but help and the right words, she'll start talking about it herself.
We wanted to discuss it because women who decided to have an abortion are frequently blamed for such an action. We feel really sorry for them. Earlier, when highly religious families took place, abortions were condemned, and women were ashamed for that; however, times have changed and so should people.
All in all, every person is free to make decisions on his/her own. People around should just be tactful, not to hurt anyone's feelings.

KNOW HOW TO TAKE YOUR TIME

Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you some article I found when I was looking through “The Guardian”.
It’s called Pressed for Time: The Acceleration of Life in Digital Capitalism by Judy Wajcman published by Chicago

I’ve chosen this article because it’s really interesting to learn why people always hurry and get upset when they realise it doesn’t help actually save time.

“Moving too fast? Books to get to grips with the pace of life“ Here it’s said that people should probably slow down to allocate their time properly and see benefits of that afterwards.
The author refers to the book «The Little Prince» by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry to show that the theory of optimising our time-by using something that might save it (like modern apps on our phones, some electronic devices, etc.) doesn’t work.

I’ve learnt that many people save their time having no reason for it. They’re used to living in the rapid pace of life and do that automatically; consequently, when they don’t know how to use their spare time, they start feeling something is wrong. Therefore, people should be well organised and shouldn’t hurry because if you’re trying to save time, it’s essential to know how you are going to spend it, how to make the process efficient and so on.

After reading this article, I got interested in planning. I would like to learn more about such a topic, establish priorities and figure out whether I really need to save my time for something or not.
